A 5.8-magnitude earthquake rattled the East Coast at 1:51 p.m. Eastern Time. Damage reports for the quake, centered in Virginia, are just rolling in and people are turning to each other on Twitter, Facebook and other places online to communicate and share information.
This is a large quake even by California standards. But it’s huge for a place that is not prepared for an event like this.
